How to do the eye exercise

  1. Sit comfortably about 60 cm from the screen.
  2. Choose the speed and number of reps, then press Start exercise.
  3. Fix your eyes on the text in the center of the green sphere. When it shrinks you will see and hear "Far", and when it grows "Near".
  4. While the sphere grows and shrinks, keep your focus on the text without losing it.
  5. When you reach the target number of reps a completion message appears. To stop partway, press Pause.

One repetition consists of holding the small size for 2 seconds, growing slowly, holding the large size for 2 seconds, and shrinking slowly. You can choose a speed from 3 to 10 seconds; we recommend starting with Normal (4 s) or Slow.

How the exercise works

Our eyes change the thickness of the lens to focus on near and far objects. When looking near, the ciliary muscle around the lens contracts and the lens thickens; when looking far, the muscle relaxes. After looking only at a screen for a long time, this muscle stays in the same state and the eyes tend to feel dry and tired. This tool gives the feeling of looking near and far in turn by following a sphere that changes size, as a stretching-style exercise that helps you use your eye's focusing smoothly.

Presbyopia, however, is a natural change in which the lens loses elasticity with age, and it has not been proven that this exercise prevents or treats it. Please use it as one lifestyle habit to ease eye fatigue.

Ways to use it

  • Do about 10 gentle reps every hour while working or studying.
  • It works well during breaks after looking at a phone or monitor for a long time.
  • It pairs well with the 20-20-20 rule of looking at something far away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
  • When you finish, close your eyes and rest for a moment, and blink more often than usual.

Notes & limitations

Stop immediately if your eyes hurt, you feel dizzy or you get a headache. If your vision suddenly drops or nearby text looks increasingly blurry, do not rely on exercises and see an eye doctor. This tool is a reference eye exercise and does not replace medical care or treatment.

Check your device volume and browser sound settings. Some browsers do not support voice guidance, but the same guidance is also shown on screen as text.

How many times a day should I do it?

There is no fixed standard. Start with about 10 reps when your eyes feel tired and adjust within what feels comfortable.

Can I do it with glasses or contact lenses?

Yes. Simply wear the glasses or lenses you normally use to look at screens.
