How to use the password generator
- Set the length and choose which character types to include.
- A password is generated automatically, and pressing Generate new creates another.

How the password generator works
Passwords are created with your browser's secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Unlike ordinary Math.random, it is hard to predict, which makes it suitable for security. At least one character from each selected type is guaranteed, and the order is shuffled at the end. Strength is shown as entropy in bits, calculated from the number of possible characters and the length. For the same length, more character types are harder to guess, and for the same types, a longer password is harder to guess. The generated password is never sent or stored; it appears only on screen and disappears when you close the page.
Tips
- Use a different password for every site and store them in a password manager.
- For important accounts we recommend 16 or more characters with all character types.
- If a site restricts special characters, turn off the symbols option.
- If you have to read and type it by hand, the option to exclude look-alike characters is useful.
What makes a password secure
Longer and more random is safer. Rules people invent, such as birthdays, names or keyboard patterns, are the first candidates an attacker tries. Reusing a password on several sites puts other accounts at risk when one leaks, so create a different value for each site with this generator and, if possible, turn on two-step verification as well. It is also more effective to change a password immediately when you suspect a leak than to change it on a fixed schedule.
Notes & limitations
Save the password you created in a safe place right away. You cannot see it again once you close the screen. Avoid keeping it in plain text in a messenger or notepad.

Is the generated password stored on a server?
No. Everything happens inside your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
How long should a password be?
We recommend 12 or more characters for ordinary accounts and 16 or more for important ones, mixing uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
Does the same setting give the same value again?
No. Each password is created from fresh random numbers, so results differ even with the same settings.
